Anonymous, the self-proclaimed “hacktivist,” sent out a collective cry for freedom in a YouTube video calling all hackers to take a stand against Facebook on Nov. 5, 2011. The YouTube video titled Message from Anonymous: Operation Facebook, Nov 5 2011 has an eery synthesized voice warning everyone of the so-called dangers of Facebook and threatening to make an end of it altogether.  He says,

“If you are a willing hacktivist or a guy who just wants to protect the freedom of information then join the cause and kill Facebook for the sake of your own privacy.”

Anonymous claims Facebook is selling information to government agencies meanwhile saving all user information even when Facebook said the information was deleted. He cautions,

“Facebook knows more about you than your family.”
Amidst other threats and warnings, Anonymous ends the video with a picture of Facebook’s founder, Mark Zuckerberg, while grouping himself with the demonic drove from the Bible and proclaiming,

“We are Legion. We do not forgive. We do not forget. Expect us.”

A little intense if you ask me seeing that people’s personal information is all over the Internet anyways, not just on Facebook. A person chooses how much information he or she wants shared and available for everyone to see. Although, I do agree and have personally seen that Facebook does not get rid of all the information you request to be deleted. If you think you have deleted your account and try to set up a new one under the same email address, all your old information will be restored. A little disturbing, however, like I said before, one chooses what to share on the Internet and in no way is Facebook twisting your arm to make you do it.

Anonymous, instead of targeting Facebook with your psychotic rage, try and educate the ignorant people on how to use the Internet safely and effectively. The End.
